Clinical researchers at the Medical College of Wisconsin are conducting a study for transgender and gender diverse (TGD) individuals with current or previous use of gender-affirming therapy (hormone and/or surgery) in order to help develop breast cancer screening guidelines for TGD persons.

​You May Quality if You Are:

• Age 30–40 years of age with a family history of breast cancer
• Age 40 and older with or without a family history of breast cancer
• Identify as transgender, nonbinary, genderqueer, etc. – regardless of sex assigned at birth

Participation Involves: Enrolling into an annual breast cancer screening program (getting a mammogram and breast ultrasound) through 2027, completing a survey, and possibly an interview. Any information recorded is kept confidential.

Potential Benefits: You will receive a $50 payment(s) via a payment card we will provide to you based on your initial and continued participation in the study.

Dr. Chandler Cortina joined the Division of Surgical Oncology here at Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin in September 2019 as a Breast Surgical Oncologist.  He has strong passion for breast cancer outcomes research. His current research is focused on axillary management trends and the treatment of older adults with breast cancer. Dr. Cortina’s research also focuses on assessing both the potential risk and management of breast cancer in transgender persons.
