Background
Cancer remains the second leading cause of death in Wisconsin. Improvements in cancer screening and treatment, and increased knowledge about cancer prevention has helped reduce the overall impact, but much work is still needed.

Areas of the maps with blues or cooler colors have lower than expected mortality and areas with yellows, reds, and oranges or warmer colors have higher than expected mortality.

Initiatives
The Community & Cancer Science Network (CCSN) is transforming partnerships to eradicate cancer disparities and achieve health equity in Wisconsin.
This work brings together researchers, clinicians, and community members to develop a shared understanding of the root causes of cancer disparities and develop research questions and social action agendas to address these causes. |

These transformed partnerships are grounded in the principles of deep equity, systems thinking, and the integration of biology to policy perspectives and are focused on creating equitable, scalable, and effective solutions to eliminate cancer disparities and achieve health equity in Wisconsin.
